Laser Cutter Safety Acknowledgement

Review these precautions before operating the cutter. The login acknowledgement confirms that you have read and understand these cautions.

Effective date: October 17, 2026

Read the machine manual and get trained

Read and follow the manual and safety labels for your exact cutter, laser source, enclosure, and accessories. Only trained, authorized adults may operate or service the machine. Follow your workplace or shop procedures and applicable safety requirements. This general page does not replace model-specific instructions, training, or a hazard assessment. Do not operate a modified, damaged, or unclassified system until it has been evaluated by a qualified person.

Protect eyes and skin from the laser

  • Treat the beam and reflections as hazardous. Direct or reflected exposure can cause permanent eye injury and skin burns; some laser beams are invisible.
  • Keep the enclosure closed and all guards, covers, and interlocks working during operation. Never defeat, bypass, or hold open an interlock.
  • Never look into the beam or its reflections. Keep reflective items out of the work area and do not place mirrors, polished metal, or other reflective material in the beam path unless the machine manufacturer expressly allows it.
  • Use only protective eyewear specified for the laser wavelength and power when the manufacturer or your safety procedure requires it. Ordinary glasses and eyewear of an unknown rating do not protect against laser exposure. Eyewear does not replace the enclosure.

Prevent fires and stay with the machine

  • Never leave an operating cutter unattended. Watch the work area and remain ready to stop the job.
  • Keep combustible items, scraps, dust, and residue away from the machine. Clean the bed and interior as directed by the manual, with the machine safely shut down and cool.
  • Confirm the material is flat, secure, and approved for the machine. Use settings appropriate to that material and thickness; do not increase power or repeat passes beyond manufacturer guidance.
  • Check required air assist, cooling, exhaust, and filtration before starting. Stop the job if a safety system fails, smoke escapes the enclosure, or the material flares unexpectedly.
  • Know the location of the emergency stop and the site fire-response procedure. Keep an appropriate extinguisher accessible and have training to use it. If a fire is not immediately controlled by the machine’s approved stop procedure, raise the alarm, evacuate, and call emergency services. Do not open the enclosure during a fire; follow the machine and facility emergency instructions.

Use approved materials and control fumes

  • Process only materials approved for your exact cutter. Never cut PVC/vinyl or other chlorinated materials, unknown plastics, unidentified composites, or material with unknown coatings or additives. They can release toxic or corrosive fumes and damage the machine.
  • Check the manufacturer’s material list and, when needed, the material safety data sheet before use. A material being sold for craft or automotive use does not mean it is safe to laser cut.
  • Use the specified exhaust and filtration system and verify it is operating before cutting. Do not rely on room ventilation alone. Stop cutting if exhaust or filtration fails, and do not breathe smoke or fumes from the process.
  • Let parts cool before handling. Edges may be hot, sharp, or produce irritating residue; use the handling and cleanup precautions in the manual.

Operate and maintain the equipment safely

  • Inspect the enclosure, viewing window, wiring, work bed, exhaust, cooling, and emergency stop before use. Do not use equipment with damaged guards, loose connections, unusual noises, or warning indicators.
  • Keep hair tied back and loose clothing, jewelry, and hands away from moving parts. Keep other people, children, and animals out of the controlled work area.
  • Do not reach into a moving machine. Pause and disable the equipment using the manufacturer’s procedure before repositioning material or clearing a jam.
  • Disconnect and secure power as directed before cleaning or maintenance. Do not open electrical or laser-source compartments or perform repairs unless qualified and authorized; hazardous voltage may remain inside equipment.

If there is an injury or exposure

Stop the process if it is safe to do so, follow your emergency plan, and get medical attention promptly for suspected eye exposure, burns, breathing difficulty, or other symptoms. Report fires, equipment failures, near misses, and injuries to the responsible supervisor or safety contact.

Acknowledgement

When you sign in with valid credentials, the app asks you to confirm that you have read and understand these cautions, will follow the cutter’s manual and site procedures, and will stop work whenever conditions are unsafe. You must accept this acknowledgement before the app opens, and it is requested again at each credential sign-in. If you decline, the app returns you to the login screen.
